Malcolm Fielding's Catalogue — Phang in Dymondwood
This listing is for a Ladahki phang style supported spindle made in Dymondwood. This item will be made to order for you. The weight and length in the description below are a general guide.
Dymondwood (TM) is a composite material made from dyed wood veneers laminated and glued together under great pressure with a resin. This sets extremely hard and inert. The material has the added advantage that it is warp-free and dimensionally stable - Dymondwood will resist warping with humidity changes. The Dymondwood is finished to a very smooth surface, polished with a french polish and then a final gloss of carnauba wax for a long lasting shine and protection. The support tip is hardened and has a fine point for long spins, while the spinning tip comes to a well-defined point. .
This style of spindle is made to spin in a support bowl. I sometimes have these in stock made in wood or Dymondwood or you can place an order on thespindleshop.net .
Your spindle will be checked for quality and spin before despatch and comes with a tip protector for both ends and packed with some Tasmanian Corriedale roving and a signed card with the material used listed and date of making. .
